Freelance Web Designer in India

I'm Vikram Chouhan. For over eleven years I've designed and built websites for businesses — most of them now outside India. You work directly with the person who builds your site, not an account manager.

Person you talk to, start to finish

A freelance web designer in India — what that actually means for you

Most businesses that find me are not in India. They're in Dubai and Abu Dhabi, London, Manchester, Dublin, New Jersey, Nova Scotia, Queensland and Kuala Lumpur. They come looking for the same thing: someone who can build a proper website without the overhead, the account managers and the six-week discovery phase that come with an agency.

Working with a freelance web designer in India means you're hiring one person with eleven years of practice, and that person is the one writing the code. Nothing is passed to a junior. Nothing is outsourced again behind your back. When you send a change on a Tuesday evening, the person reading it is the person who will make it.

It also means your budget goes considerably further than it would locally — not because the work is cheaper in quality, but because a single experienced freelancer has none of the cost structure of a studio.

A word on the numbers above. In eleven years I've delivered more than 1,000 projects, most of them for businesses in India. Working with clients abroad is the deliberate focus of recent years, and the projects below are a selection of that overseas work — live sites you can open and check today. There is more about me and how I work on the about page.

Dubai, UAE

Shabbir Husain Trading L.L.C

Hardware and building materials in Deira — over 5,000 items across 15 product divisions, built as a secure enquiry-based e-commerce system in PHP and MySQL. Buyers build an enquiry list without an account and get a quotation back within 24 hours, the way trade customers actually buy.

Aim Films website — Abu Dhabi, UAE
Abu Dhabi, UAE

Aim Films

A production house that also works as a creative agency — brand campaigns, TV, film, photography and events across Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Amsterdam. The work had to lead; the site had to get out of its way.

RNi7 website — London, United Kingdom
London, United Kingdom

RNi7

Piping, structural and pipeline engineering across subsea, offshore and onshore projects — concept and FEED through to fabrication support. A technical site that had to carry real engineering credibility without reading like a brochure.

Arka Solicitors website — Manchester, United Kingdom
Manchester, United Kingdom

Arka Solicitors

An SRA-regulated immigration law firm covering more than 40 visa categories — family, work, student and visitor visas, settlement, citizenship and sponsor licences. People arrive anxious and in a hurry, so the site leads with the free 15-minute consultation and real Google reviews.

Global Network Exchange website — United Kingdom
United Kingdom

Global Network Exchange

Virtual assistance and outsourced back-office support — customer service, e-commerce, real estate admin and digital marketing. A business that sells remote work had to look completely credible about data security and NDAs.

Clonsilla Family Practice website — Dublin, Ireland
Dublin, Ireland

Clonsilla Family Practice

A GP surgery on Weavers Row, Dublin 15 — family medicine, blood testing, ECG, vaccinations, gynaecology and pregnancy care, with several specialist doctors. Online appointment booking and patient registration built in, so the practice stops fielding routine calls.

The Healthwell Clinic website — Dublin, Ireland
Dublin, Ireland

The Healthwell Clinic

General consultations, chronic disease management, heart health monitoring and women's health. Irish general practice has rules a generic medical template ignores: Medical Card holders alongside private patients, real turnaround times, and out-of-hours DDOC cover stated plainly.

Castleknock Family Practice website — Dublin, Ireland
Dublin, Ireland

Castleknock Family Practice

An RCSI-affiliated teaching practice, so the site had to carry that standing as well as handle patient registration and prescription requests — alongside immunisations, chronic disease management, rheumatology and diabetes care.

Clear PT Concepts website — New York, USA
New York, USA

Clear PT Concepts

Online NPTE exam prep for physiotherapists, on WordPress — live virtual classes, video courses, mentoring, tutoring and 250-question mock exams. Several course tiers had to be comparable at a glance by working professionals choosing between them.

Marizone Security Ltd. website — Nova Scotia, Canada
Nova Scotia, Canada

Marizone Security Ltd.

Hospital, shopping centre, industrial, corporate, events and logistics security, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Six service lines for six different buyers, each needing its own page while the site still read as one trustworthy operator.

Marizone Home Care website — Nova Scotia, Canada
Nova Scotia, Canada

Marizone Home Care

Patient attendant care, personal care and companionship, with certified caregivers, background verification and full insurance cover. A sister brand to Marizone Security with a completely different tone — families choosing care for a relative need reassurance, not a security posture.

Evergreen Lawns website — Newfoundland, Canada
Newfoundland, Canada

Evergreen Lawns

Lawn care and landscaping in St. John's — fertilisation, weed control, core aeration and dethatching. A seasonal service business where before-and-after imagery does the selling, supported by plain educational content on what goes wrong with a lawn.

SEN Enrichment Care Centre website — Selangor, Malaysia
Selangor, Malaysia

SEN Enrichment Care Centre

Special education and child care — ABA therapy, early intervention, speech and occupational therapy, sensory integration. The most sensitive brief of the set: parents arrive worried, so every page had to be calm, legible and specific.

Garrulax Consulting website — New Jersey, USA
New Jersey, USA

Garrulax Consulting

IT consulting and software development — ERP and Oracle solutions, e-business platforms, testing, Azure cloud, mobile and networking for small and mid-sized US businesses. A deep service architecture where every capability needed its own page without the menu collapsing.

Kulcha Kulture website — Queensland, Australia
Queensland, Australia

Kulcha Kulture

An Indian restaurant in Slacks Creek serving Brisbane and Logan — Amritsari kulchas, curries and tandoori, from a kitchen that began in Amritsar in 2000. A menu past sixteen categories, with ordering handed to DoorDash and UberEats: the site has to move people to an order without getting in the way.

Amorisha Empires LLP website — India

Amorisha Empires LLP

An import and export company trading cosmetics, medical equipment, food products and textiles, with partners in South Korea. A corporate site that explains the business, shows its international agreements and lists its client brands.

Naveen VermaRNi7, London, United Kingdom

We'll you doing a great job we haven't finish our website yet but so far very good.

Vinod VasramAstrology22, Fiji

I met Vikram at the juncture when I was already fed up with lots of web developers from India. Experience with them was a nightmare because of poor reliability, poor accountability, lack of professionalism and dedication for the work. My website demand was technically not so high but still lots of web designers failed to deliver it. I was just thinking to either learn myself or shift this work to Germany, where I could control myself.

So obviously it was another but last conscious trial with Vikram and team. Honestly and happy to share that he exceeded my expectation, delivered the result with great dedication and passion.

Yogesh NamaRPP India, Germany

"We couldn't be happier. Vikram created a beautiful website for us. He quickly got our aesthetic. Gave us a myriad of great design options. And patiently (with good humor) guided us through the process.

We have enthusiastically recommended Vikram to many of our business associates and friends."

Sanjeev GulatiEvergreen Lawns, Canada

Amazing team! Very responsive, creative and efficient enough to rely on — the team that they gonna do the bestest best.

Thank you to the whole team who delivered our website in 10 days.

Creative freelance web design — how I approach a project

Every site, a completely different problem. A hardware distributor in Deira and a special-education centre in Ampang have nothing in common except that both needed a website that does one specific job well.

So there is no template here. The work starts with what the business actually sells and who actually buys it, and the design follows from that. A trade buyer sourcing 5,000 line items needs a fast enquiry list. A parent choosing a therapy centre needs calm and clarity. A restaurant needs you ordering within thirty seconds. Those are three different websites, and treating them as one would fail all three.

What stays constant is the build: clean, fast, responsive, structured for search, and handed over so you own it outright.

The practical part

How we work together

01

Time zones

I work from India, on IST (UTC+5:30). My day overlaps the morning in Dubai, the start of the afternoon in London and Dublin, and the evening in New Jersey and Nova Scotia — and it finishes as the Australian east coast begins.

Most work runs asynchronously, which suits this well: you send notes at the end of your day and wake up to them done.

02

Talking to each other

WhatsApp, email and video calls — whichever you prefer. Calls are scheduled to your working hours, not mine. You're talking to me directly at every stage; there is no account manager between you and the build.

03

How a project runs

Scope and quote → design direction → build → your review round → revisions → launch. You see progress on a live staging link throughout, so nothing arrives as a surprise at the end.

04

What you own

All of it. Code, design files, content and hosting access are yours at handover. No licence tied to me, no lock-in, and no dependency on me continuing to be involved.

05

Payment

Milestone-based rather than everything up front. International clients are quoted in their own currency — USD, GBP, EUR, AUD, CAD or AED — so you're not converting or carrying exchange risk.

06

After launch

Sites don't end at launch. Ongoing maintenance, updates, hosting help and changes are available as a retainer or ad hoc — several of the businesses above have been with me for years.

No obligation, no sales sequence

Common questions

Questions about hiring a web designer from India

Why hire a freelance web designer in India rather than someone local?

Two reasons, and cost is only one of them. Your budget goes further because a freelancer carries none of a studio's overhead. But the more useful reason is that you work directly with the person building the site — the brief doesn't degrade as it passes through an account manager, a project manager and then a junior developer. The businesses above chose this over local agencies for both reasons.

How does communication work across time zones?

I'm on IST (UTC+5:30). My day overlaps the Gulf morning, the UK and Irish afternoon and the North American evening, and ends as Australia starts. Most communication is asynchronous — you send changes when it suits you and they're done by your next morning. Calls are booked in your hours. In eleven years of working this way, time zones have been the easiest part of the arrangement.

I've been let down by developers in India before. Why would this be different?

That's a fair question and a common one — one of the testimonials above says exactly that. The difference is structural: you're hiring one named person who does the work, not a company that resells it. There's no team behind the curtain that changes without you knowing, and nobody for accountability to get lost between. If something is late or wrong, there is exactly one person to take it up with, and you already have his phone number.

How do payments work from outside India?

Milestone-based, not fully up front, so payment tracks delivered work. You're quoted in your own currency — USD, GBP, EUR, AUD, CAD or AED — and invoiced normally. Exact terms are agreed in writing before anything starts.

Who owns the code and the files when it's finished?

You do, completely. Code, design files, content and all hosting and domain access transfer to you at handover. There's no licensing arrangement, no proprietary platform you're locked into, and no technical reason you'd need me afterwards. If you do come back, it's because you want to.

Can you rebuild my website without losing its search rankings?

Yes, and it's the part most rebuilds get wrong. Rankings survive a rebuild when every existing URL either stays exactly as it is or is redirected properly, and when the content and structured data carry across intact. Done carefully, a rebuild should improve performance without costing you positions. Done carelessly, it wipes out years of work in a week.

What platforms do you build on?

Whatever fits the job. Shabbir Husain Trading needed a custom enquiry-based e-commerce system, so it was built in PHP and MySQL. Clear PT Concepts runs on WordPress because its team needed to publish courses themselves. Others are static builds for speed. The platform is a consequence of the requirement, never the starting point.

What does a website cost?

It depends on scope, and quoting a figure before understanding the brief would be guesswork. A brochure site for a service business and a 5,000-item enquiry catalogue are not the same project. Tell me what you need and you'll get a written quote in your own currency, with the scope itemised so you can see what drives the number.

How long does a project take?

A straightforward business site is typically a matter of weeks — Marizone Home Care's went live in ten days. Something like a large catalogue with an enquiry system takes longer. You'll get a milestone schedule with the quote, before you commit, rather than a vague estimate that slips.

Ready when you are

Whether you're in Dubai, London, Dublin, New Jersey, Halifax, Brisbane or Kuala Lumpur — send over what you have in mind and you'll get a straight answer on scope, cost and timeline.
